Tweet slimline birdhouse

Howdy and hello!  Today's project features several new products from the latest Scappy Tails Crafts release.  Have you had a chance to check out all the great new goodies from the Home Is Where Mom Is release?  You can see them all right HERE.

Let's take a look at my project.

How fun is this??

I cut the main house die out of a piece of light purple cardstock.  Next I used the Slimline Woodgrain die to cut a light and dark piece of purple cardstock.  I glued the light purple layer onto the main house piece and then inlaid all of the dark purple pieces.  I trimmed off the ends that hung over at the top.  I used a dark purple ink and a blender brush to go around all the edges of the house panel.

Next I took the large heart and the letter dies from the Birdhouse die set.  I lined them up on the front of the house panel.  I ran the whole thing through my die cut machine and removed the cut pieces.  On the back side of the house panel I glued some gray cardstock just behind the letters.  I also cut the roof piece out of the same gray cardstock two times.  One piece I adhered straight to the panel.  The second piece I used a texture embossing folder on it to give it some, well, texture.  I added bits of foam tape only on parts of the back before adhering it over the piece on the house panel.  I rubbed my teflon folder over it so the cardstock would bend a little between the pieces of foam tape.

Next I added silver splatters.  I also used the same silver to lightly paint the roof piece.

I cut another light purple panel using the main house die.  This will be the back.  I grabbed a stencil from my stash and applied purple ink with a blending brush.  This way it won't just be plain when you look through the heart shaped hole.

I set the panels aside and stamped out several elements from the Oopsy Daisy set and the Spring Birds set.  I used a Copic markers to color them all.  I scoured the internet for pictures of yellow birds.  I used a yellow Finch and a yellow Oriole as my inspiration.

I also can't stop using the adorable bees from Oopsy Daisy!  I added tiny touches of Unicorn Stickles to the bee wings and the flower centers.

I cut the tweet word die out of gray cardstock 3 times and once out of metallic silver cardstock.  I glued all of the layers together.  I then played around with the placement of everything until I was happy with how it looked.  I cut two side panels out of the same purple cardstock and got to building!

I just love the Slimline Birdhouse Pop Up die!  It's so unique!

We've made it to the end of my post and I hope you found something you can't live without! ;-)Don't forget you can use the code STCBLOG10 for 10% off your order.

See you soon!

Rachel Vass Designs

Happy Sunday!  I don't think I shared yet on my blog that I have joined the design team for Rachel Vass Designs!  It's SUPER exciting for me because I have long adored Rachel's digital stamps.  She creates the most phenomal floral images and much more!  My full gig starts in April but I hit the ground running and managed two projects for this month.

I'm actually going to share them in reverse order by showing this week's card first.

I created an easel card using the Freshly Picked set.  This is one of her new releases for March.

I printed the flowers on Bristol Smooth cardstock and colored them with Karin Markers.  The colors I used were Pale Pink 220, Cerise 375, Lilac 226, Pale Orange 357 and Amber 197.

The card base is 80# Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I used the Splintered Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I added soft coloring with Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar.  I concentrated the darkest color in the area I wanted to be behind the flowers and slowly faded it out from there.

I added Worn Lipstick and silver splatters to the card base.  I went ahead and fussy cut the flowers out and added foam tape to the back.  I adhered them to the card right below the fold line for the easel.  I tucked in a few pink sequins and added Unicorn Stickles to the flower centers.

The sentiment was printed onto Neenah cardstock.  I used a scrap piece of Bristol and sponged on Worn Lipstick distress ink so it would match the front.  I popped it up on foam tape and added to the inside of the card.

The card I shared earlier in the month features the Ruffle Flowers Background.  It is also a new release this month.  It is a very simple mini slimline.  Perfect if you need to create a quick card!

I printed the Ruffle Flowers Background out onto black cardstock.  Then I ran it through my Minc with opal foil.   I cut the panel down to 3" x 6".  I added it to a purple panel 3 1/8" x 6 1/8" and then onto a white card base.

The sentiment was printed onto white cardstock.  I added the same purple cardstock.  Popped it up with foam tape before adding it to the card.  And that was it!  So quick and easy but it still packs a visual punch thanks to the pretty foil!

I look forward to sharing more of my projects featuring Rachel Vass Designs digital stamps in the months to come.

Welcome to my blog!  For my project I tried to squeeze in as many of the new products as I could in one card.  They are the Slimline Brick Background die, Whimsical Layering Daisies dies, Oopsy Daisy stamps and the Oopsy Daisy matching dies.  Let's check out my card.

Let's talk about the process.  I ran the Slimline Brick Background die through my die cut machine.  When I took it out, I carefully added tape to the back side so the pieces would stay in place.  Next I inked it up with Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany distress inks.  I splattered it with clean water, dabbed it off and dried it with my heat tool.

I wanted my bricks to look more aged and add some sort of texture.  I grabbed a semi-translucent embossing paste and a craft spatula.  I just spread some of it on here and there.  The added benefit was that it seemed to actually brighten up the colors on my panel.

I set that aside got to work on creating ink smooshed watercolor papers to cut my daisy pieces from.

The light panels on the left are Antique Linen.  The panels in the middle are Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and a touch of Ripe Persimmon.  The panels on the right are Shabby Shutters and Peeled paint.

I glued the brick panel onto a white slimline card base.  I added a generous amount of metallic dark silver splatters.  I laid out all of the daisy pieces onto the card.  Once I liked the positions, I used a piece of Press 'n Seal to pick them up.  I worked my way through each flower.  Liquid glue for the flat pieces and some of the flower centers are popped up with foam tape.

I stamped and die cut one of the bees from the Oopsy Daisy set.  I colored the bee with a Y15 copic marker on the body.  I used BV0000 for the wings.  I popped it up with foam tape and added it to the flower.  I did go over the wings with Unicorn Stickles.  The sentiment also came from the Oopsy Daisy stamp set.  I fussy cut it out as well as the black shadow layer.  I put foam tape on the back before adding it to the card.

Another view so you can see the embossing past texture.

That's it for me!  And if you saw something you liked, you can use code STCBLOG10 for 10% off your order in the Scrappy Tails Crafts store!

Your next stop on the hop is: Jackie Pasko
