Surf's Up

Hello and welcome!  Today I've got more inspiration to share from Scrappy Tails Crafts Tropical Bliss release.  So many great products absolutely perfect for summer cards.

For my card I used six different products from the Tropical Bliss release.  If you want to check those goodies out first head HERE.

First I cut out many surfboards using the Tropical Bliss paper pad and dies from the Tiki Hut Surf Shop add-on set.

Next I grabbed the Aztec stencil, some lime green ink and a blending brush.  I used a slightly darker green ink to add a bunch of splatters.

I cut a navy piece of cardstock and got out the Zig Zag stencil.  I used a gold pigment ink to lightly add detail to the navy cardstock with an ink dauber.  Then I glued all of the surfboard pieces to the panel.

Once they were all in place, I cut off everything that hung past the edges.  Then I splattered it all with diluted gold acrylic paint.

Next I cut a few leaves using the Tropical Leaves Assortment dies from lime and navy cardstock.  On the navy leaves I added a generous amount of shimmer with the Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen.  While those pieces dried I cut out the Aloha sentiment in gold foil cardstock from the A7 Aloha Tropical Leaves cover die.  There is also a shadow layer die included in the set and I cut it from heavy vellum.

I used a liquid glue to add the gold letters to the vellum.  I played around with the placement of the tropical leaves and glued in place.  On top of that I added the Aloha sentiment.

As always, thanks for visiting!

Magical

Hey Friends!  Have you seen the June release from Scrappy Tails Crafts yet??  It's SO amazing!!  The theme is Midsummers Nights Dream.  Think fairies, flowers and magical!  You can check it all out right HERE.

And I want to mention the incentive offers while they are still available.

Now let's take a look at my card.

As part of their new release, Scrappy Tails has added stencils to their line up and I'm just giddy about it!

I used the stand alone layer from the Starry Night set.  Of course it needs to sparkle so I used two different colors of Glitter Glitz Gel.  They are Lovely Lavender and Wild Lilac.

I didn't cover the whole panel.  I tried to make it an oval-ish shape.  I set the panel aside to dry.  I stamped the word "Magical" from the Fairy Sentiments set with Versamark ink.  Then I sprinkled on silver embossing powder and used my heat tool.

Next I cut out the word with the matching die from the Fairy Sentiments dies set.  This die set includes a cut out for the word, including swirly details, and a shadow layer.  I cut the shadow layer out of a patterned vellum I had in my stash.  I took the V09 Copic marker and colored the backside of the vellum.

I glued the "magical" word on top of the vellum and added a bunch of foam tape on the backside.  I used the cardstock areas to mask the foam tape.  Let's just say I cut lots of tiny pieces.

Now we're ready to build a card!  I cut a piece of metallic purple cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and glued it to a top fold, A2, white card base.  Then I added the glitter panel and finally the sentiment.

To complete the card I stamped "You are" from the Fairy Sentiment set using Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink.  I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder, melted it, cut it down, and added it to the card.  It's totally magical!

You've gotta check out the new release!  And don't forget, you can use code STCBLOG to get 10% off your order!

Happy crafting!

Let's get inky!

Hello my friends!  Today I'm bringing you along on my recent crafty adventure.  Let me start off by telling you I'm using the Beauty of His Grace set from Polka Dot Orchard.  This set (along with all others!) are on sale for the 35% off in the PDO store.  You can go directly to the store by clicking HERE.

Here's my creation for today.

I was looking for a way to use digital stamps with alcohol inks.  Enter heavy vellum!  I printed the main image onto heavy vellum.  I flipped it over to the backside and started adding alcohol inks.  I  worked carefully to apply the colors roughly in an area where I wanted them.  Mojito for the leaves and stem.  Ember for the flowers. Teakwood for the butterfly body.  Boysenberry for the butterfly and Glacier for the sky.

With the help of isopropyl alcohol and a puffer tool, I was able to spread the colors out in a controlled manner.  I just kept working at it until I was pleased with the way it looked.  I then added splatters of just isopropyl alcohol.

I wanted to make sure that my adhesive wouldn't show so I added double sided tape that covered the enter piece.  I adhered it to a piece of plain white cardstock and then cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.  I placed it to leave a strip of white on the right and bottom of the panel.

The sentiment also comes from the Beauty of His Grace set.  I printed it out onto white cardstock and ran it through my Minc machine with a blue foil that matched well with the Glacier alcohol ink.  I took this photo at an angle so you can actually see the foiling.

And a close up so you can so some more of the detail.

This really was an easy card to create.  Plus, I always feel like a little kid in art class when I get to play around with alcohol inks!

Thanks so much for visiting today!
~Kristina
