Sunflowers and Sunshine

Hello there fellow crafters!  It's Kristina again and I've got a heap of sunflower cards to share with you!  My cards all use the new Harvest Blessings Deluxe card kit from Scrappy Tails Crafts.  You can buy all of the pieces individually except for the pearls.  In fact, I made SIX cards!  Let's take a look.

I was inspired by the May 2022 Sheetload from Call me Crafty Al.  Her sketch was in a vertical layout but horizontal worked better for me.

I started by stamping one of the sunflowers from the Wild Sunflowers stamp set with black ink onto watercolor paper.  I stamped it six times.

Then I grabbed some Distress Inks.

I squished the ink pads onto my media mat and spritzed lightly with water.  Then I used them like watercolors and applied with a paint brush.

After I dried them with the heat tool, I splattered all of them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I'm loving splatters so much right now!

Next I cut out all of my card pieces and gathered them together.  All of the patterned paper is from the Harvest Blessings 6x6 paper pad.

As I started putting my layers together, I decided to ink around the edges of the sunflower images with the Walnut Stain Distress ink.  I also added foam tape to the sunflower layers before adding to the card panels.

And here's a close up look at each of the six cards.

You can see in the pictures that I decided to add a sentiment after I put the cards together.  I stamped the sentiment from Wild Sunflowers with Versamark ink.  Then I sprinkled with gold embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.  I adhered them with liquid glue to the panels.

I should mention that I couldn't decide on my card base color so three of them are on a natural color and three of them are on dark brown.  I did splatter the bases with gold paint before adding all of the card layers.

And I can't let you go without a close up of the sunflowers.  I was so pleased with how the watercoloring turned out!

Thank a bunch for stopping by today!

Celebrate

Hi my friends!  Popping in to share my latest card project.  It features a brand new digital stamp from Polka Dot Orchard called Red, White and Pooh!

This is such a sweet image and totally gave me vintage vibes.  So it was perfectly fitting to use the Vintage Pastels watercolor set from Prima!

I did also use the Odyssey watercolor set as well for the flag colors.  Oh, and to deepen the pink on Piglet's outfit.

I added a little blue and green splatters.  Once everything was dry I added Icicle Stickles to the sparkler.  I cut it out with a scalloped die and glued it to a dark cream card base.  I kept things nice and simple!

This fun new digital stamp is available HERE at the Polka Dot Orchard website.  It's even half price right now!

Have an awesome day!

Fall slimline card

Howdy!  I'm popping in real quick today to share my latest card!  I know that the weather is beginning to get cooler but I'm holding on to fall.  Which meant I have made one more fall inspired card!  The colors are absolutely gorgeous right now where I live.

No tutorial today since the card was pretty simple and straightforward.  I printed one of the leaves and the sentiment from the Beautiful Colors of Autumn digital stamp set by Polka Dot Orchard onto watercolor paper.  I smooshed several Distress Ink colors onto a palette.  I gave them a light spritz of water.   I loaded up a larger paint brush with water and grabbed one of the ink colors from the palette.

I randomly added the colors where I thought they looked good.  I dried it and did it another time to try and deepen the colors.  I dried it again and added splatters with copper acrylic paint.  Once it was dry I cut it out with a simple slimline layer die.

I added foam tape to the back before adding it to the mustard slimline layer.  Then the whole piece went onto an olive colored card base.  And that's it!

You can pick the Beautiful Colors of Autumn set right now for 50%!  Sale ends November 8th, 2021!

Have a fabulous day!

Daisies and butterflies

Welcome back friends!  My project for today is a card I created using products from Scrappy Tails Crafts March 2021 release.  They are the Oopsy Daisy stamp set and the Sitting Butterflies dies.  Let's take a look at my card shall we?

I had more pictures of the process but I managed to delete them somehow!  So I took a few pictures of some of the pieces and then the final card.  I'll talk you through the process.

I started with this gel print I made some time ago.  When I can't really create, I love to get out my gel plate and just play.  This results in a stack of prints for me to pull out when the mood strikes!  This purple and yellow print called to me.

I cut it down to 3 1/4" x 8 1/4".  Next I went to my stack of random things in my craft room.  I had swatched out some brand new shimmer watercolors earlier in the month in a rainbow order.  I grabbed the Sitting Butterfly dies and cut out the solid butterfly die six times.

I then cut out the detail butterfly die six times out of black watercolor paper that I had swatched with the same shimmer watercolors.  I used a liquid glue to adhere the outline piece to the watercolor solid butterfly.  I intentionally kept from lining the images up exactly.  This makes it look like the solid butterfly is more of a shadow image.

I stamped two of the daisies from the Oopsy Daisy set with black ink directly onto the gel print panel.  Then I played around with the placement of the butterflies.  I felt like I had some empty space so I stamped several of the adorable bees from the same stamp set.

Next I adhered the gel print panel to a white, slimline card base.  The two butterflies on the left side of the card I let hangover the edge of the card.  I simply trimmed off the excess.  Before I added the butterfly on the right I added my sentiment which is popped up with foam tape.  I also added foam tape to the last butterfly and placed it so it looked like the butterfly was resting on the sentiment.  This one goes to the edge of the panel but not so far that I had to trim bits off of it.

For just a tiny bit more detail I took some gray Copic markers and colored the flower centers.  And that does it!  I will be back very soon with a project from the brand new June release!  Don't forget the discount code you can use for 10% off, STCBLOG.
