Tea Pot

I can hardly believe it but I have managed to make a fourth card for the Coffee Lovers blog hop!  This time I went with a tea theme.  I really LOVE coffee but I also enjoy tea so I wanted to show it some love.

First thing I did was to create the main card panel.  I cut a piece of natural ivory cardstock down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Then I used an embossing folder from Stampin Up! in the center of the card.  Next I lightly sponged Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink over the embossed area and around the top edge of the panel.

I picked out a piece of patterned paper from the Echo Park Coffee Collection paper pad.  I used one of the Hero Arts tea cup dies to cut the patterned paper.  I felt it needed some shading to give it more life.  I used Copic markers BG75, BG72 and BG70.  I just freehanded some lines and blended them out until I was happy.  I gave this a spritz with a gold glimmer spray and set it aside.

Now for those lovely flowers!  I used the Flower Silhouettes stamps and dies from My Favorite Things for all of them.  I pulled out my Altenew mini ink cubes to find inks that would coordinate with the patterned paper.  The colors I picked were Blush, Coral Bliss and Heart Beat for the pinks/reds.  Forest Glades and Evergreen for the greens.  I stamped out several of the flowers and leaves in various color combinations.  Then I cut them all out with the coordinating dies.  I started to play around with the layout on the card.  I would lay the tea pot over the flowers and moved the pieces around until I was happy with it.

I removed the tea pot carefully and used a piece of Glad Press n Seal to hold all of the flowers together.  I turned the whole thing over and used a combination of the Zig 2-way glue and Tombow mono multi glue to adhere them together.  Then I added glue to the whole piece and layed it down on the card.  I layed a stamp block on top and let it sit for just a few minutes.  While it was drying, I added foam tape to the back of the tea pot.  I peeled off the Press and Seal and splattered gold Finetec paint over the entire card panel BEFORE adhering the tea pot over the flowers.  Some of the flowers and part of the tea pot were hanging over the edge of the panel.  I simply cut them off with a pair of scissors.

The very last step was to add it to a card base made out of 110lb Neenah Solar white cardstock and this bad boy was done!

Coffee and a sketch

Somehow I managed to find myself with a bit of free time last night so I decided to make another coffee themed card!  To make it even quicker, I used the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I think the color in the picture doesn't quite compare to real life.  It is more of a vibrant grape purple.  Anywho, I had to use purples since they are my favorite!

Here is a close up of the Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing detail.  I just love how it takes on the tones of the paper behind it.

Perk Up

It's one of my favorite times of the year...The Coffee Lovers Blog hop!!!!  And if that wasn't special enough, I have joined the design team for Polka Dot Orchard digital stamps!!  Oh so much to be excited about!  Without further ado...

The blog hop goes from May 3rd through May 10th and there are lots of prizes to be won!  Perfect excuse to play along.

Let me tell you a little bit about the card.  The set I used from Polka Dot Orchard is called Good Morning Spring.  I first printed it out onto watercolor paper using my laser printer.  I did reduce the opacity of the lines so that they wouldn't be quite so bold.  I then painted it using Daniel Smith Watercolor paints from the sampler cards.  I'm sorry but I forgot to write down which colors I used!  

After it was completely dry, I fussy cut the entire image out.  I went over the entire image with clear glitter Wink of Stella marker.  I set it aside to dry.  I went through my paper stash (hoard) to find a soft colored paper that would coordinate with the colors I used.  I pulled out Doodlebug's  Simply Spring paper pad.  Did I mention I'm a total Doodlebug addict?  I've been trying hard to actually use the pretty paper I buy.  It's just so dang hard!

Anywho, I selected a pale yellow pattern paper.  I cut it down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Then I used the largest die from Lawn Fawn's Lacy borders dies to cut the long sides of the yellow paper.  I then glued it using Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to a top fold white card base.  The paper I used for the base is Neenah 110lb Solar White.  I used the same liquid glue to adhere the cup over the yellow paper.

Now I just needed a sentiment.  I picked one that comes with the Good Morning Spring digi set and reads "Perk up, spring is in the air".  I also printed it out onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and cut it down using a trimmer.  I then just used a pair of scissors to cut the banner ends.  I added foam tape to the back of the sentiment and stuck it in place.

While I loved the way the card looked, I felt it needed just a little bit more.  I carefully added a bit of Icicle Stickles to the portion of the flower center you can see around the sentiment strip.  I found a pin helped to spread it carefully in the right places.  I also added Nuvo Drops in Dandelion Yellow, Woodland Green and Plum Pudding.  The Woodland Green drops helped to tie in the green from the one leaf in the flower.  All done!

Coffee...because adulting

It's here!  It's here!  It's the very first day of the Coffee Lovers blog hop and I'm super excited.  Let's jump right in and show you my card.

This card sentiment is so true.  I definitely need coffee to make it through the day being an adult!  

Here are some details about my card.  I used a coffee bean stencil on the kraft layer and used Rich Cocoa glimmer paste from Nuvo.  The watercolored piece under the coffee cup was created using dark brown brusho, gold paint and water.  Once it was dry, I ran it through with a coffee ring embossing folder.  I think it's the Tim Holtz Alterations one by Sizzix that is no longer available.  I'm not sure who made the coffee bean stencil either as there is no markings on it.  I also cut it down with one of the Tim Holtz deckle dies.  I used a larger deckle die to cut down the coffee bean piece.

I used Versamark ink to stamp the coffee cup onton dark brown cardstock.  I sprinkled gold embossing powder over it and melted it with a heat tool.  Next I added a bit of color with Prismacolor colored pencils and a white gel pen.  I fussy cut it out with scissors.  The sentiment comes from the same Freshly Brewed blueprints stamp set (linked below).  I also stamped it with Versamark ink but this time used Hot Chocolate embossing powder from Nuvo.  Then I just started putting the pieces together!

I have a white, top fold, A2 sized card base.  I glued on a dark brown cardstock and then the coffee bean piece.  I added foam tape to the back of the brusho piece and put it in place.  Next I put foam tape on the back of the coffee cup and glued it down.  I went around the edges of the sentiment piece with a brown ink pad, added foam tape and put it down.  And it's a wrap!
