Tropical stenciling

Hello my friends!  I'm beginning to dream of fall but I'm here with another tropical inspired project using Scrappy Tails Crafts.  Let's dive right in!

I started by cutting a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock into an 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" panel.  I pulled out the three stencils from the last Scrappy Tails release.  Aztec, Zig Zag and Chevron.  I then picked out some bright inks and blending brushes.  I eyeballed 3 different sections on the panel and separated them with 1/2" tape.

Next I cut three leaves from dark grey cardstock using the Tropical Leaves dies.  I adhered them inside each stenciled panel.

Then I added a generous amount of black splatters.  While the splatters were drying I worked on the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Tropical Birds set.  I stamped it on a scrap of Bristol Smooth cardstock so my whites would be the same color.  I used my Mini Misti to stamp it first with a dark grey ink.  Then I stamped it with Versamark ink.  I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and melted with a heat tool.  The final step was to use the coordinating die to cut it out.  I did add some foam tape to it before adding it to the panel.

After that I used liquid glue to add the panel to a dark grey card base.  I did go back and add several dots with Midnight Sky Nuvo glitter drops.

Since I had so much fun making the slimline version, I wanted to try it in an A2 size.  I mean, why not!

On this panel I actually used skinny white cardstock strips to separate the stenciled panels.

I loved using more than one stencil on my cards!  Which one of these cards is your favorite?  I totally can't choose.

Surf's Up

Hello and welcome!  Today I've got more inspiration to share from Scrappy Tails Crafts Tropical Bliss release.  So many great products absolutely perfect for summer cards.

For my card I used six different products from the Tropical Bliss release.  If you want to check those goodies out first head HERE.

First I cut out many surfboards using the Tropical Bliss paper pad and dies from the Tiki Hut Surf Shop add-on set.

Next I grabbed the Aztec stencil, some lime green ink and a blending brush.  I used a slightly darker green ink to add a bunch of splatters.

I cut a navy piece of cardstock and got out the Zig Zag stencil.  I used a gold pigment ink to lightly add detail to the navy cardstock with an ink dauber.  Then I glued all of the surfboard pieces to the panel.  

Once they were all in place, I cut off everything that hung past the edges.  Then I splattered it all with diluted gold acrylic paint.

Next I cut a few leaves using the Tropical Leaves Assortment dies from lime and navy cardstock.  On the navy leaves I added a generous amount of shimmer with the Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen.  While those pieces dried I cut out the Aloha sentiment in gold foil cardstock from the A7 Aloha Tropical Leaves cover die.  There is also a shadow layer die included in the set and I cut it from heavy vellum. 

I used a liquid glue to add the gold letters to the vellum.  I played around with the placement of the tropical leaves and glued in place.  On top of that I added the Aloha sentiment.

Celebrate

 Hi my friends!  Popping in to share my latest card project.  It features a brand new digital stamp from Polka Dot Orchard called Red, White and Pooh!

This is such a sweet image and totally gave me vintage vibes.  So it was perfectly fitting to use the Vintage Pastels watercolor set from Prima!

I did also use the Odyssey watercolor set as well for the flag colors.  Oh, and to deepen the pink on Piglet's outfit.

I added a little blue and green splatters.  Once everything was dry I added Icicle Stickles to the sparkler.  I cut it out with a scalloped die and glued it to a dark cream card base.  I kept things nice and simple!
