Tropical Sunshine

Hello my friends!  Have you seen the brand new Tropical Bliss release from Scrappy Tails Crafts?  Oh. My. Word.  It's absolutely fabulous!  You can see it all HERE if you need to see it stat.  So much fabulousness! 

Hot foil plates have made it back and I wanted to use them right away.

Look at that gorgeous shine!

I started by blending green and turquoise inks onto a white panel using the new Chevron stencil.  Then I splattered it with the same ink colors mixed with a shimmer liquid.

Then I used the stencil to emboss the panel.  I purposefully did NOT line up the embossing with the stenciled colors.  This way creates more visual interest.  I had to hold the panel up in order to caputure the texture with my camera.

I set the panel aside to work on the hot foiling.  I used the Hibiscus hot foil plates with a bright pink foil and a bright green with the leaves.  I then used the coordinating dies to cut out the pieces.

I cut down the hibiscus patterned paper from the Tropical Bliss 6x6 paper pad to an A2 size.  I adhered it to a white card base.  I added foam tape to the back of the stenciled/embossed panel and glued it on top of the hibiscus paper.

I played around with the placement of the flower and the leaves.  I used liquid glue for the leaves and popped up the flower with foam tape.  The sentiment was also adhered with liquid glue.  To finish it off I added some clear Nuvo drops which I have recently rediscovered in my stash!

I am literally drooling over the shine and texture!

Since I was having SO much fun playing with new goodies, I had to make another card.

For this card I used paper from the Tropical Bliss 6x6 pad.  I also used the A2 Triangle Pattern cover die to cut out the blue paper.  I used liquid glue to adhere it to the patterned paper.

I stamped a bird (I decided it would be a Parakeet) from the Tropical Birds set onto Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color in the sweet birdie.  I cut it out with the Tropical Birds coordinating dies.

I didn't want the bird to get lost in the pattened back ground so I cut a piece of heavy vellum using a diamond shaped die.  I adhered the bird to the vellum with foam tape.  Then I hid my liquid glue on the back of the vellum behind the bird and added it to the panel.

My sentiment strips are using stamps from an older set called Fairy Sentiments.  I trimmed them down and glued them into place.  I did add some clear Nuvo drops again to the left of the bird but it's a bit hard to see in the photos.  And that's it!

All the Shop Hop with Scrappy Tails Crafts

Welcome to the Scrappy Tails Crafts “All the Shop Hop”.   Today we are hopping along with all of the designers showcasing our favorites from our older releases, mixing them with the new.   The idea is to shop your stash and see how well the entire line from Scrappy Tails Crafts work together!   Sit back and grab your favorite beverage and snack and be inspired.

Let's check out my project!

I chose to combine the Spring Birds stamp set from last year's spring release and the new A7 Flower Cover Plate die.

My firs step was to stamp the birdbath onto Bristol Smooth cardstock with a hybrid black ink.  I added color using some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.

Then I used the A7 Flower Cover Plate die to cut out 3 of the floral frames from Desert Storm cardstock.  I used some liquid glue to glue the layers together.

Then I used the flower die from the set to cut out several different colors of metallic cardstock.  I chose to use colors similar to the coloring I did with the Zigs.  I glued them onto the flower frame base on the matching spots.

Before I glued the frame to the birdbath panel, I stamped the sentiment with the help of my regular size Misti.  Which was a real life saver since I didn't get a good impression with the first stamp.

I glued the birdbath panel onto a Desert Storm 5"x7" card base and then added the floral frame.  I decided I wanted to add more flowers since I still had several pieces left.  I also added clear Wink of Stella to all the parts of the frame that didn't have flowers.  And to finish it off I added Glossy Accents to the water in the birdbath.
