Simply Watercolor Day 2

Howdy, hello, good evening!  I have been working on the lessons for day 2 of the Simply Watercolor class over at online card classes.  You can find it HERE.  I'm having a great time with this class.  I just wish I had more chunks of time to work on it!  That whole work thing gets in my way!

I waited until I had the three lessons done so I could post all of the pictures in one blog post.  I find this class challenging for many reasons but the top one is that there are no stamps being used!  I'm thankful Kristina Werner provides very detailed instructions and templates.  Bless you!

Here they all are!

For this one, I just freehanded it all per her instructions.  Not too bad other than my wonky balloons.

I had a lot of trouble with the animals.  I just couldn't get the shading quite right.  They are still super cute.  Thank you templates!

And now for the final card for this lesson.

My bear and background turned out darker than intended but look at that cute bow tie!  As with the previous cards, I used Misson Gold watercolors.

Overall I am pleased with my results.  I'm sure things will improve with more practice.  On to day three!

See you soon!

Simply Watercolor day 1 - part 3

Hope you aren't sick of seeing new posts from me!  Second one in the same day is almost like a record for me!  I think this one is my favorite out of the three I have made.

I used Misson Gold watercolors for this project as well.  I think I'm going to try and use them all the way through this particular class.  I added Nuvo drops in matching colors just for fun!

I think I'm going to save the bonus lessons until I make it all the way through the class since it's going to take me a while.  In fact, I was supposed to be working on some quilt strips today.  Guess That's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Toodles!

Simply Watercolor day 1 part 2

Woohoo!  I managed to finish part two of day 1 late last night.  This one was definitely more time consuming but still a lot of fun.  I realized after I attached it to the card base that I had turned it upside down before writing the sentiment.  Oopsie!  I still like it...even if I don't like my handwriting so much.

Here it is!

I'm hopeful that I will finish up day 1 lessons this weekend and maybe get a start on lesson 2!

Simply Watercolor day 1 - Lesson 1

Super short post!  Here is my homework for day one, lesson one of the latest Online Card Class Simply Watercolor from Kristina Werner.  I had a little bit of trial and error but got it done.  I used Misson Gold watercolors for this project and a few dabs of Star Dust Stickles.  Oh, and a silver gel pen!

See you real soon!

Crafty play time

Hiya folks!  I'm hoping to start sharing my homework from another class soon but in the meantime I thought I'd share a card I just finished.

I got my hands on the brand new Alcohol Lift-Ink pad from Tim Holtz.  I played around and created an alcohol ink piece and then busted out the ink pad.  FYI--the lift-ink doesn't seem to work as well on the metallic mixatives.  I forgot to snap a good picture of my alcohol ink piece.  Whoops!

Anywho, I used the gorgeous new stamp from Simon Says Stamp called Strangeness.  This beauty was designed by Stephanie Low (check her out on Instagram!).  I stamped it on the alcohol piece and took it straight to Neenah white cardstock.  Because the colors I used were fairly light, the resulting image was very pale.  Note for future reference.

I couldn't just let it go to waste so I grabbed three Copic Markers and attempted some almost no-line coloring.

I did create a bit of a drop shadow with N1 and N0 to try and make it pop out a bit more.  The sentiment I used is from a Trinity Stamps set.  Sequins from my stash.  I popped the whole card front up on foam tape and glued to a gray card base.  Bam!

Altenew day 6--Final day!

I did it!  I'm so happy that I made it all the way through a class!  I usually let life get in the way and then I don't complete them in a timely fashion.  I *may* have a backlog of classes waiting for me to complete.  It'll be our little secret.

I can't say enough good things about this class.  One-Layer Wonders at Altenew Academy has been a blast.  It has made me do a lot of things I have never done before.  That's what I really love about cardmaking.  There is always something new to be learned and it never gets boring!

Now for my final card.

I really, really love how this card turned out!  I want to mention that I didn't use any of the same stamps that Kelly used in the class and I didn't have any issues.  If you are like me, you have a stock pile of sets waiting to get some love!  Seriously, this is the best $8.95 I have spent.  Go take a look at all of the fabulous classes they have right HERE.

Supplies used:

Stamps: Altenew Just Because and Altenew Pattern Play Hexagon

Copic Markers: W3, V06, V15, Y06, YG11, 13

Distress Oxides: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet.

A few Lilly White Glitter sprinkles from Doodlebug and Crystal Stickles

Have a fabulous day!

Altenew Academy day 4

I'm still here and making slow progress in the One-Layer Wonders class over at the Altenew Academy.  I jut seem to have a lot of things on my crafty plate and not a lot of time!

This lesson really, really pushed me.  I was very nervous about it.  Lots of masking (I'm masking challenged), coloring, measuring, blending.  This card seemed to have it all!  I sneaked a peek at the next lesson too.  Gulp!  I hope I can continue to push myself to try what Kelly Latevola is teaching.  Did I mention how much I love Kelly??  She's da bomb diggity!

Anywho, here's my homework for day 4.

And one more picture...

I didn't intend for my leaves to be purple.  They were supposed to be the bright green but I wasn't paying attention when I started coloring and went right to a leaf with purple.  At that point I committed to the unusual color scheme.  And...I LOVE IT!!!

Supplies I used:

Copics: W1, 3 & 5. V06 & V15. BG53 & 57. YG11 &13. RV55.
Distress ink: Tumbled Glass
Stamps: Altenew Adore You and Simon Says Stamp Handlettered Encouragement
Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Two more lessons to go.  Wish me luck!
