Sleigh Ride

Hello there friends!  I've got a gem of a slimline card using goodies from Scrappy Tails Crafts Candlelight Christmas release.  You can check all the new products out right HERE.

I started with an 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" panel of Bristol paper.  I created a ink blended night sky using Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet and Milled Lavender Distress inks.

I splattered the panel with water and dabbed it off.  Then I splattered it with Copic Opaque White ink mixed with water.

I set that aside to dry.  Next I cut some white hills for my scene out of Bristol.  I wanted to give them a little depth so I colored the edges with Copic markers.  I used BG000 and BG0000.

Now I stamped the sleigh and one of the small houses from the English Winter Village set.  I stamped them onto more Bristol with VersaFine Clair Morning Mist ink.  I felt the gray ink was a little less jarring than black. I used Zig Clean Color real brush markers to color the images.  Once they were all colored, I cut them out with the coordinating English Winter Village dies.

Back to those hills.  I felt they needed a bit more.  I found Crushed Ice effect paste in my stash.  It was the perfect addition!  I also embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set with silver embossing powder.

Now let's build a card!  I did go ahead and splatter the stamped images with white ink so they'd fit in with the back ground.  

I put foam tape behind the top part of the sleigh image.  The texture paste made it a bit too bumpy on the bottom to glue it flat to the hill.

I cut several small snowflakes from the Snowflake Spinner add on dies.  I glued them over the panel and added silver gems from the Festive Gems mix.

The final step was to glue the whole panel onto an 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" card base.

Like a Sister

Hiya!  Thanks for stopping by at my little corner of the crafty world!  Today I'm making a 5" x 7" card featuring the Like A Sister digital stamp set illustrated by Jeanie Hays for Polka Dot Orchard.

This is such a lovely set and can be used for a variety of occasions.  I really wanted to show off the gorgeous floral image and felt a 5" x 7" card would be a better format to use.  Let's see what you think.

I didn't take any process photos (I forgot!) so I'll talk you through the process.  I printed out two flowers on a piece of Bristol cardstock.  One image I set aside to use as the base.  On the second piece I grabbed a couple hexagon dies and played around with placement.  I looked for areas I thought would make the most impact.  I lightly drew around the dies so I would know where to apply color.

I used Karin Brushmarkers and a Silver Black Velvet 4 round brush.  The smaller flower portion is colored with a combination of Orange Red 051 and Magenta Red 170.  The larger flower was done in just the Magenta Red.  The green is Ocean Teal 377 and the gray is Cool Grey 1 160.  I would draw the marker where I wanted it the darkest and then blend out with a brush and water.  I did that until I had all 3 hexagon areas colored.  Then I taped my dies in place and ran it through my die cut machine.

I added foam tape to the back and then lined the pieces up very carefully with the uncolored flower.  I added the panel to a dark gray 5" x 7" card base.  I added splatters with black acrylic paint and some white pearl acrylic paint.  While I waited for the paint to dry I printed out the two sentiments I wanted from the Like A Sister set.  I cut off the "I" from the "I Miss You".  I added a black layer behind both of the sentiments, added liquid glue and tucked the sentiments in place.  For the finishing touch I added 3 Clear Drops from Studio Katia.  I thought they looked like dew on the flowers.
