Rachel Vass Designs release day!

Happy Wednesday my friends!  I wanted to hop on to let you know that it's release day over in the Rachel Vass Designs store today.  Two winter theme sets hot off the presses (so to speak).  They are called Winter Flower Spray and Snowman.  I'm sharing a card I created with the Snowman set.

This snowman is just super cute and there are lots of great elements included in the set.  You will definitely find lots of ways to use this collection.

I printed him out on a Copic friendly cardstock.  I also printed him onto regular copy paper.  I used the copy paper version to create a mask.  If you put Mono Multi liquid glue on the back and let it dry, it becomes a removable mask!  I created a hill with gray Copic markers.  Then I created the sky with Distress Inks.  Villainous Potion, Wilted Violet and Salvaged Patina.  Oh man, they create a gorgeous blend!  I splattered with clean water and dabbed it off for extra interest.

I peeled off the mask and used a few BV Copics to give the snowman body some color.  The scarf was also done with Copic markers.  I printed the sentiment and fussy cut it out.  I then colored another piece of cardstock to match the background.  I glued it to the sentiment and also fussy cut that layer.  

I grabbed some gray and white twine from my stash and added it to the back of the sentiment with foam tape.  Then I poked holes in his hands to thread it through and taped it to the back.  This makes my snowman look like he's holding the sentiment.

For the finishing details I used a white gel pen to add snow and some sparkles.  I love how this guy turned out!

Botanical Blossom

 Hello there!  Thanks for coming for a visit.  What do I have for you today?  A super fabulous card featuring the new Botanical Blossom digital stamp set from Rachel Vass Designs!

I don't have any process photos for this card but it is a simple one to recreate.

I created the background by putting adhesive all over a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" cardstock panel.  Then I picked three different patterned papers that coordinated.  In this case, I used papers from Sunny Studio's Polka-Dot Parade 6x6 cardstock pack.  I cut several 1/2" wide strips from each color of paper.  Then I created the starting pattern by laying down 3 strips in different directions.  I have seen this done by lots of people on YouTube and having been wanting to give it a go.

I just continued adding strips to the panel until it was completely covered.  Then I went around the edges to trim off the overhanging pieces.  I used the largest die from the Hero Arts Infinity Nesting Rectangle set to cut the panel down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  I went ahead and adhered it to a top fold, A2 sized whate card base.

Now onto the star of the show.  The Botanical Blossom is absolutely gorgeous!  I only wanted to add the barest hint of color to the blossoms so it would stand out from the colorful background.  Frequently I will reach from my gray Copic markers but not today!  I opted to use graphite pencils and paper blending stumps.  I really love the simplicity of this method.  And if I mess up, I can just erase and start again!

Once all of the gray details were added, I used a yellow-orange colored pencil for the flower centers and a pale green for the centers of the leaves.  After that, I used my favorite scissors to fussy cut the image out.  Next I added foam tape to the back and added it to the card.

At this point I decided I need something more.  Enter all the splatters!  I thinned down some black acrylic paint and added a generous amount of splatters.  Once those were dry, I added more splatters with Sparkle Shimmer Spray.  I sprayed a small amount onto my craft mat and splattered with a paint brush.

To finish up the card I only used a portion of a sentiment from one of Rachel's other sets (forgot to write it down!) and cut it out with a banner die.  I glued it to the card base and called this beauty done!

Totally Tropical

Happy Saturday!  Today is release day over at Rachel Vass Designs!  There are three brand new sets in the Etsy store.  For my slimline I'm using Totally Tropical.

I sized it large enough to fill a slimline card panel.   Then I printed it out onto Copic friendly cardstock.  I took a pencil and ruler and drew lines 1/2" wide.  Next I grabbed a T3 Copic and started going over my pencil lines.  

Next I grabbed a whole lot of brightly colored Copics and got to coloring!  

After it was all colored, I went back with a T0 marker and added a light shadow under the bottom edges of some of the elements.

I cut it out with the Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels and Windows set.  I glued it onto a piece of Copic safe paper I colored pink to match.

I couldn't find a piece of patterned paper in my stash that worked so I stamped my own.  I glued the floral/pink panel on top.  I used a Stardust gelly roll pen to add some dot detail.  Then I added glossy accents to the center of the purple and yellow flowers.

I trimmed the sentiment down and added it to a green piece of cardstock I also colored to match.  Foam tape was added to the back and placed on the card.  That's it!  I just love how it turned it.
