Guest Designer - Coffee Loving Cardmakers

Hi there I'm Kristina Hein and I was absolutely thrilled to be chosen as Designer Pick from the last blog hop AND to have the opportunity to be a guest designer!

I'm a mom (empty nest is fast approaching!), a wife, a full time employee at a local college and a lover of cats.  We currently have 6.  It's almost like a zoo!  Oh, did I mention?  I'm a total card making addict?  I have pretty much been a life long crafter doing all different kinds of hobbies.  I was a pretty serious scrapbooker and then got sucked into the world of cardmaking.  Here I have been playing around for the last 16 years or so!  There are so many fabulous products out there to try out and so many techniques to explore.  I like to challenge myself by working with all sorts of mediums.  I feel like these things help to keep my love of cardmaking strong!

Wanna talk about my card?  Well, let's check it out!

I started with a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock cut to A2 size.  I ripped a piece of the wide purple tape in half-ish to create my own wavy lines.  I positioned it four different times on the cardstock and blended on Distress Inks.  From the bottom up it is Ground Espresso, Vintage Photo, Brushed Corduroy and Tea Dye.  I also splattered on a bronze metallic paint.

Next I grabbed the Coffee Bean stencil from Jaded Blossom and some translucent crackle paste.  It looks semi-opaque in the photo but it was still wet.

I set the panel asided to dry and got to work on the stamped elements.  I used two of the adorable coffee cups in Newton's Nook Newton Loves Coffee set.   I stamped them in the same colors as the stripes I created.  So the Ground Espresso cup will go over the Ground Espresso stripe.  I added some quick touches of color with dye inks that I used like watercolors.  I don't have the die set so I fussy cut them out.

I then cut four circles out of the Neenah with a stitched circle die.  I sponged each of the edges again with the same distress inks.  Time to build a card!

I glued the panel onto a white card base.  I added foam tape to the back of all of the circles and all of the coffee cups.  I played around until I got a pleasing line up.  The sentiment is actually a sticker from Stamplorations.  It's part of their Just Caffeinate sticker set.  I added it to a piece of white cardstock, trimmed it down and added it to a piece of gold foil.  I stuck a piece of foam tape on the back and added it to the card.  And...done!

It's been a blast getting to be a guest designer here on the blog!  Thanks so much!!

Crafty hugs!

Color Poppin' with digital stamps

Hiya friends!  I'm over on the Stamplorations blog today as a guest digital designer.  This month's trio of projects features the Sketched Cupcake & Cupcake Row digital stamp set.  I always try to do a sort of theme and this month I'm calling it "Color Poppin'."

My first project is a bright and fun bookmark.

I printed the image twice in the same size.  One image I colored with fluorescent Copic markers and the other I left uncolored.

I cut the word "read" out of both of them.

I cut the same letters out 4 more times from plain white cardstock.  Then I stacked and glued all of the letters together.  I rounded the corners of the plain panel and added it to a piece of black cardstock slightly larger.  I also round the corners on the black panel.  Then I glued the stacked letters in place.  I added liquid glue to the bottom of the letters and sprinkled with glitter.

For the finishing touch I punched a hole through both layers and added a bright ribbon!

For my second project I got to play with my gelli plate!

I grabbed my gelli plate, several acrylic paints, Flair slimline stencil and Bloomdalascopic #7 stencil.  I created a couple of different panels because you can't make just one when you play with gelli plates!

I printed the Sketched Cupcake out onto Copic friendly cardstock.  I added minimal color to the wrapper with some toner greys.  For the frosting I used an embossing pen to add ink and then used White Satin Pearl embossing powder.  It added such a lovely shimmer!

I picked my favorite panel and added it to a gray card base.  I added foam tape to the back of the cupcake and adhered it to the card.  I also used a Happy Birthday sticker from the Just Everyday Greetings sticker pack.  Glued on a few sequins and this beauty was finished!

My third project I think is my favorite of this group.  Don't tell my other cards!

I printed the Cupcake Row out onto white cardstock.  I grabbed the Art Splatter stencil, blending tools and a rainbow of Distress Ink pads.  I added the stencil splatters at different heights, flipped it over, shortened the drips and so on to make each splatter look different.

Then I used the same Distress Inks to add splatters.  Keeping it mostly over the same area as the stencil splatter.  I added black splatters over the entire panel.

I added it to a black panel and then onto a white slimline card base.  That's it!

I hope you have enjoyed my projects today!  You can use code STAMPGIRLKRISTINA to get 20% off at the Stamplorations store.

Have a fabulous day!

Fabulous fun with foils!

Hello and welcome!  Today I'm over on the Stamplorations blog as a guest digital designer.  I bring you a trio of cards created with the French Marigold digital stamp.  And of course, some foil!

I enlarged the marigold and tilted it at an angle before printing it out twice onto copic friendly cardstock.  The first one I traced around an oval die so I would know what areas I needed to cover with color.  Then I got out my Copic markers to do the coloring.  Did you know there is a variety of French Marigold called Strawberry Blonde?  This is what inspired my color choices.

Next I cut it out with an oval die.  I used a Zig 2 Way squeeze and roll glue pen to add bits of glue to some of the outer edges of the petals.  I let it dry for a minute or two until sticky.  Then I took a of sheet of gold foil and laid it on top.  I rubbed over it with my fingers and slowly peeled it off.  I love this method to add touches of gold to any piece without having to use a Minc or laminator.

The second marigold piece I cut with a stitched rectangle die just slightly smaller than A2 size.  I splattered the entire piece with gold, then silver splatters.  Once it was dry I added it to a coral card base.  I put foam tape on the back of the oval, lined it up over the splattered panel and adhered it to the card.  Easy peasy!

My second card was an experiment that totally paid off!

I inverted the color of the digital stamp so it made the lines white and the area around it black.  I printed it out with my laser printer. Then I cut a piece of Rainbow Shattered Glass foil large enough to cover it and ran it through my Minc twice.  I peeled it back and found this beauty waiting for me.

I'm not going to lie.  I ma have gazed at it for a while before I could bring myself to cut it apart.  I cut it into 4 equal parts and added a white piece of cardstock behind each of the pieces.

Next I grabbed a piece of black cardstock and the Bloomdalascopic #7 stencil.  I ran them through my die cut machine to get a subtle embossed pattern on the black cardstock.  To help bring out the embossing I swiped a platinum ink pad lightly across the surface.  I also added some white splatters.

I cut the black panel down to fit onto a 5" square white card base.  I added foam to the back of the foiled squares and added them to the card.  I finished it off by adding a sentiment sticker from the Just Everyday Greetings sticker pack.

My third card is actually a bonus card I got from the project above!  When I did the foiling for the second card I had the leftover foiled flower.  I couldn't bring myself to throw it away.  I grabbed a piece of toner paper and ran it through my Minc with the foiled flower leftover.

Isn't it so cool?  I cut it into 4 pieces and added different colored cardstock behind each square.  I took a piece of black cardstock and cut it to 6 1/4" x 3 1/4".  I taped the Half Circles slimline stencil over it and spread Pixie Effect paste over it.  Once the paste was dry I added it to a white mini slimline card base.  Then I adhered on the foiled squares.

That's it for me today.  I hope you found something that inspired you!  Don't forget that you can get 20% off in the Stamplorations store by using the code STAMPGIRLKRISTINA.
