PDO - Love Grows Here

Happy Saturday everyone!  Have you had a chance to hop along yet with the Polka Dot Orchard Love & Friendship inspiration blog hop yet?  If you haven't, check out all of the details on my post from yesterday.

Now, let's talk about the new PDO digital stamp set I'm using today.  It's called Love Grows Here and you can get your hands on it right HERE.

It's a fabulous succulent focal image with lots of great sentiments.  There are so many possibilities!  I wanted to keep my card simple today.  To let you know it's totally ok to just color bits and pieces of a larger floral image.  Don't feel overwhelmed, I promise it will be all good!  Let's see what I created.

I kept if very simple.  I printed the heart image out onto Bristol paper.  I then used Zig Clean Color real brush markers and a water brush.  I would lay down a little bit of color where I wanted it to be the darkest and used the water brush to spread it out.  

The colors used are:

Light Green 41

Violet 80

Pale Rose 230

Turquoise Green 42

Olive Green 43

Geranium Red 29

To jazz it up I bit, I carefully went over all the colored areas with clear Wink of Stella.  I also added it to some of the larger, uncolored blooms.

I chose to use the larger font size "Hello Friend" and printed it out onto white cardstock.  I added it to a black piece of cardstock and trimmed it down to have a very narrow border.  I went ahead and fussy cut out the flower shape and liberally added foam tape to the back.  I adhered it to the dark gray card base.  Then I used liquid glue in the middle of the sentiment strip and foam tape on the ends.  This way it's flush over the heart but will have support where it hangs over.  And that finishes up my card for today.

Large floral images don't have to be intimidating.  Color a little or color a lot.  It's totally up to you!

Coffee Lovers/Coloring Challenge card 3

Welcome back my friends!  I actually have a tag for you today instead of a card.  I love that the Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge and the Coffee Lovers blog hop are overlapping right now!

I cut a piece of patterened paper from the Echo Park Coffee collections with a tag die from Paper Smooches.  Next I stamped the coffee cup image from Jaded Blossom's Coffee Art set.  For the foam art I stamped an image from Jaded Blossom's Fall Coffee Art set.  I stamped all of the images on Bristol Smooth paper.

The entire image was colored using Zig Clean Color real brush markers and a water brush.  I did add Wink of Stella to the spoon and the leaf in the center.  The sentiment is actually a strip I cut down from the Echo Park paper pad.  It was perfect!  I added a bit of foam tape to the back and attached it to the card.  The white and silver edge ribbon is from my stash.

A Grateful Heart

Welcome back to my blog crafty friends!  I am such a happy gal with all of the fall colors appearing all around me.  This IS my absolute favorite time of the year.  Which of course means I love to make fall themed cards.   Let's take a look at my latest project for the Polka Dot Orchard design team!

It features the A Grateful Heart digital stamp set from Polka Dot Orchard.

I was going for a no line look using Zig Clean Color real brush markers.  Here is a picture of my color palette for today.

I lightened the stamp image before printing it out onto Bristol smooth cardstock.  Then I got right to coloring.  I generally lay down a little bit of the marker and draw the color out with a waterbrush.  I have better control over the water that way.  Sometimes I'll use a lighter color marker to draw out the color depending on how strong I want it to be.

Coffee cups: Brick Beige and Persian Green

Pumpkins: Deep Brown, Brown and Beige

Pumpkin Stems: May Green and Olive Green

Leaves: Marine Green and Olive Green

Berries: Persian Green

I just took my time until I had the image colored in completely.  Once it was dry, I used my Brother Scan and Cut to cut out the colored image.  Now on to card making!

My card base is a natural ivory color.  Next I added an orange plaid paper from Echo Park's My Favorite Fall paper pad.  The brown layer is cut from Authentique's Gracious paper pad.  I spritzed it lightly with water before putting it into the fall embossing folder.  I hoped to keep it from cracking through the paper.  It did help but I still had white showing through.  To remedy that I took a sanding block and lightly sanded the raised areas.  Then I sponged a brown ink over it.  I love the texture and dimension that it added to the card!

I felt like I needed to tie in the Persian Green from the colored image with the card.  I dug through my cardstock stash and found a pretty good match.  I cut a 1/4" strip and adhered it all the way across the card.  For the colored image I added a bunch of foam tape to the back before putting it in place.  Onwards to the sentiment.

I played around with several different sentiments but decided on one from The Best Pumpkin stamp set also by Polka Dot Orchard.  I didn't have a space large enough for it to be in one spot so I just fussy cut out all of the words.  I was delighted to find out that the 'and' fit perfectly in the center of the colored image!  Bonus!!  I ran the words through my Xyron sticker maker.  Before I placed them on the card, I spattered the entire card front with copper paint.

For the final touch I add Midas Touch Nuvo Shimmer marker to the pumpkins.  I wish it showed up better in the picture but it's gorgeous in real life!

Sip Happens

Hello my friends!  Popping in for a quick post to share my latest floral card.  It features two digital stamps from Polka Dot Orchard.  They are Sip Happens and Its Your Day.  I combined the flower image with the wine glass.  The stems aren't long enough to go inside the wine glass so I just added them with a fine line marker and a pencil.

I printed it out onto Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I then used Zig Clean Color real brush markers and a water brush to color the images.  I cut it out using my Brother Scan & Cut before adding it to the card.  The papers are from the BoBunny Bee-utiful You paper pad.  I added foam tape to the back of the flower before putting it on the die cut oval.

For a few final touches I added Wink of Stella Glitter Gloss and Midas Touch.  I also added some enamel dots in coordinating colors.  That's it!
